How to Celebrate May Day
April 2020
Haven’t got a Maypole and 40 metres of coloured ribbon? Not to worry, you can still indulge in this ancient tradition of celebrating the transitioning of spring into summer without a traffic jam in sight.
- Fill a vase with fresh flowers to celebrate the Roman Festival of Flora, the goddess of Spring.
- Early riser? Embrace the season of warmth and light by watching the sun come up (cuppa is optional at 5am). Today marks the middle way of spring into summer.
- Be more 'Morris'. Don some bells and move to your favourite Morris Dancing track... if you know some.
- Wear Green. The 'green man' represents fertility and nature. It’s arguably the day that the earth’s energies are at their peak... harness that power!
And if it rains? Well, what more did you expect from a British Bank Holiday?
