Swansea Employability Academy

April 2019

A degree is no longer enough to guarantee a graduate a satisfying future career. In many sectors recruiters are looking for ‘work-ready’ graduates with clear evidence of job specific skills in addition to high level graduate attributes. To have the competitive advantage in the job market, students need to have developed their employability throughout their time at university.

When Icon were asked to overhaul the marketing collateral for Swansea University’s Employability Academy (SEA) we knew that the design would need to be engaging and interactive, promoting the already excellent innovative teaching and learning practices held by the University.

We drew on the University’s target audience and location as the inspiration behind the design for the new identity for the Academy. Working with a dynamic team we were able to push boundaries and work collaboratively to produce exciting and engaging pieces, such as the Logo Loop Postcard.

“From idea creation to increased engagement, Icon have created marketing collateral that has generated an excellent return. Our interactive postcard has been a big success. When handing out the postcard I see the recipient, be this a colleague, a student or employer, actually stop and look. It really focuses conversations – all of our information and key messages in one place. Similarly, the changes made by capturing our student funding initiative onto a postcard and online registration form #SeaYourFuture events has already generated interest matching the past 3 years combined – and we are not even through the second term yet!”
