Androulla is Founder and Creative Director of Icon.
Androulla's journey from a junior graphic designer in London to the Founder and Creative Director of Icon is a testament to her passion, dedication, and love for design. She honed her skills while studying Graphic Design at Newport Art College, a vibrant city often compared to "Welsh Seattle" due to its creative atmosphere, including iconic music venues like TJs where Kurt Cobain's proposal to Courtney Love took place.
Initial clients, included notable names like WDA (Welsh Development Agency), Wales Trade International and The National Botanic Garden of Wales. In her role as Creative Director, she not only nurtures her studio team's talents but also fosters curiosity and open-mindedness. Over 25+ years, Androulla has built a thriving design agency and cultivated strong, enduring relationships with everyone.
I’m proud that we’ve got a really good studio atmosphere where everyone from clients, suppliers and partners are warmly welcomed. Collaboration is one of the most rewarding parts of what we do; from individual start ups to established brands, we believe well-crafted creativity can create moments of magic.

We are particularly proud of our long term creative partnership with The Westfield Health British Transplant Games, an annual sports celebration of the giving and receiving of life saving organs. With competitors of all ages from every corner of the UK, the event brings organ donor families and their recipients together in different host cities. Icon are also sponsors of Welsh Varsity, supporting Swansea University’s students on and off the sporting field. We also make regular charitable donations throughout the year and have sponsored local education and business awards in the city.
Skills
Inspiring the next generation of creatives is also important. The studio has provided mentoring and graduate support with University of South Wales as well as facilitating student placements from schools and colleges, championing the value of developing bold ideas that will serve the future needs of clients and audiences.
Environment
And finally… we are committed to running a sustainable studio and advising our clients on eco-friendly approaches to briefs. With an ambitious Environmental Policy, a commitment to using local partners and suppliers, we believe that every positive design decision helps in creating less waste and more eco-friendly goodness.
