The African Youth in Mind project focuses on working with youth and caregivers to adapt and test a stepped care intervention for youths with depression and anxiety, which is tailored to the needs of communities in Ghana and Zimbabwe.
We recently worked with Project Coordinator, Suzanne Dodd of King's College London on developing a logo for the project based on a hand drawn design submitted by one of the young people involved in the initiative. Selected from a range of proposals, the final design centred upon the importance of individual care embedded within a wider framework of friendship and support. A bold colour palette added impact to the design.
What is African Youth in Mind?
A multidisciplinary group of African and UK researchers are working with youth in Ghana and Zimbabwe to adapt and evaluate a stepped care intervention for youth aged 15 to 24 with depression or anxiety, which is suitable to be delivered through task-shifting to non-specialists.
Funded by the National Institute for Health Research, the project is anticipated to run until 2025 with further scope in Malawi.
